Using The Fight Osteosarcoma Together (FOT) Super Grant, funded in part by the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund, Dr. Grohar will spend three years leading a research team to investigate a family of genes called MYC. His larger goal is to identify targeted treatments for osteosarcoma patients whose MYC genes have gone awry.

Osteosarcoma, a deadly bone cancer, has many lethal talents: it can shuffle around its genome to evade therapies, confuse the immune system, and grow exponentially even if it starts with just a few cancer cells in a child’s body.

On October 16, Disney+ is set to release the movie “Clouds,” an inspiring film based on the true story of teenage songwriter Zach Sobiech who rose to fame before passing away from osteosarcoma, a deadly bone cancer, in 2013.
